About UPSC:  The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a constitutional body in India authorized to conduct examinations for appointment to the various Civil Services of India. The Chairman and other members of the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) are appointed by the President of India. Its functions include Recruitment to services & posts under the Union through conduct of competitive examinations and under the Central Government by direct selection, advising the govt., disciplinary cases and miscellaneous matters.

UPSC is conducting the Engineering Services Examination 2011 for recruitment of posts in the following categories:

Category-I: Civil Engineering
Category-II: Mechanical Engineering
Category-III: Electrical Engineering
Category-IV: Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Total Number of Vacancies: 745

Eligibility Criteria:
Age: 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. The age 30 is not inclusive. Relaxations are applicable.
Educational Qualification: Engineering degree or equivalent from a recognised University/ Institute. Final Year Candidates can also apply.
Note: Candidates appearing for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Engineer, Gr.’A’ in Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing/ Monitoring Organisation can have the above mentioned qualification  or MSc or Equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
Physical Fitness: The candidates applying for the exam should be fit according to the regulations mentioned in detailed advertisement.

How To Apply for Engineering Services Examination?
Application Fee: Rs 50/- for online application and Rs 100/- for offline application. The online fee can be paid in cash at SBI or net banking of SBI or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card. The offline fee is to be paid through a single CRF stamp. SC/ST/PH/ Female candidates can apply for free through any mode.

Online mode: Candidates who wish to apply online can do so by logging on the website: http://www.upsconline.nic.in . The instructions regarding this are given on the website itself.

Offline Mode: Application can be also made through the common application form that is used for all UPSC exams. Though this option is available to only candidates in remote areas (definition in para 6 of the detailed notice) The UPSC form is available at all head post offices/post offices across the country. Its cost is 20/- rupees. The completely filled application form and the acknowledgement card should be sent in a special envelope which was there with the brochure. The envelope should be superscribed with “Engineering Services Examination 2011” and sent by speed post/ registered post only to:
