Indian Railways invites application from eligible Indian Nationals for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot. The vacancies are distributed among the different Railway Recruitment Boards of the Indian Railways.

Post Name: Assistant Loco Pilot
No. of posts: 16595 (UR-8170/SC-2695/ST-1589/OBC-4141). Out of which 1648 are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
Age limits (01.01.2012): 18-30 years. Relaxation is applicable as per rules.
Qualifications: 10th pass or ITI or equivalent in different trades as listed below:
  • Fitter
  • Electrician
  • Instrument Mechanic
  • Mill Wright/ Maintenance Mechanic
  • Mechanic Radio & T.V.
  • Electronics Mechanic
  • Mechanic Motor Vehicle
  • Wireman
  • Tractor Mechanic
  • Armature & Coil winder
  • Mechanic Diesel
  • Heat Engine
  • Turner
  • Machinist
  • Refrigeration & A.C Mechanic
OR
Diploma (Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering)
OR
Higher Qualification like BE/B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Automobile Engineering.

Scale pay: Pay Band-1 of Rs.5200-20200/-plus grade pay of Rs.1900/-

Application procedure:
Application fee:  Rs.40/-(No fee for SC/ST,Women, Minority Communities, Economically Background Classes and Ex-SM) in the form of Crossed Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank or Indian Postal Order from any post office drawn in favour of “ Chairman/ Member Secretary/ Dy. Secretary/ Secretary/Assistant Secretary of concerned Railway Recruitment Board ” payable at the place where the concerned RRB is situated. In simple words the fee is payable by only OBC and un reserved candidates.

Candidates are advised to write their Centralised Employment notice no., name of the post , category number, name and address on the backside of Bank Draft/Pay Order/IPO and enclose it on the top of the application form in original.

The application should be made in the format specified only. The application should be written by the candidates himself/herself by blue/black pen only (ball point).The photograph pasted should be a color one. The complete application form along with the attested documents copies and draft/IPO should be enclosed in an envelope. The envelope need to superscribed with “Application for the post Assistant Loco Pilot Category No. 1 Centralised Employment Notice No. 01/2011 & Community (SC/ST/OBC/Ex-SM)”
 The application should be addressed to the concerned RRB. Other details and address are given in the detailed advertisement.


Enclosures required:
Candidates should enclose self-attested photocopies of the relevant certificates as mentioned below.  Original certificates should not be enclosed.

1.     Demand Draft/Indian Postal Order towards the examination fee, wherever applicable.
2.     Certificates in proof of the Date of Birth.  Only 10th class certificate will be accepted.
3.     Copies of certificates in proof of educational/technical qualifications.
4.     Community certificates for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC communities.
5.     Certificate from eye specialist regarding the Vision of the candidate.
6.     Income certificate for economically backward class candidates availing fee concession.
7.     Self-declaration for candidates belonging to minority communities availing fee concession.
8.     For Ex-Servicemen, discharge card/certificate.
9.     An additional copy of photograph which should be identical to the one pasted with the application, should be stitched to the application.
10.  Information sheet in the prescribed format.
Note: Candidates can also apply online by visiting the website of the concerned RRB. Also all the RRBs will conduct the exam on the same day therefore candidates are advised to fill the form for only one RRB.
