About SSB: SSB is Border Guarding Force (BGF) which runs under the Ministry of Home Affairs. SSB was set up in early 1963 in the wake of the Indo-China conflict. The organisation works to promote sense of security among the people living in the border area, prevent cross border crimes and unauthorized entries into or exit from the territory of India and prevent smuggling and other illegal activities.

Age Band: 18-23 Years (on the date 10.12.2010). Relaxations do apply.
Pay Scale: Rs 5,200-20,200 Grade pay 2000 + other allowances
Education plus Other Requirements (for all posts):
- Matric or equivalent form a recognized Board or Institute. (8th Class pass for the ST Candidates of Mizoram State, Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh only) AND
- (i) Two years work experience in respective trade; OR
(ii) One year certificate course from Indusial Training Institute/ Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the Trade ; OR
(iii) Two years Diploma from Industrial Training Institute in the trade or similar trade.
Note: The candidate applying for respective posts must qualify their respective trade tests.
Physical Fitness: The candidates should adhere to the medical standards as prescribed in the detailed advertisement.
Application Procedure:
Application Fee : Rs 50/- (for General and OBC candidates only) is to be paid in the form of bank draft/IPO in favour of “Accounts Officer, SSB, SHQ Gorakhpur(UP)”. SC/ ST/ EXSM candidates are free to apply.
Eligible Candidates can apply in the prescribed format as mentioned on the website and can send their applications completed in all respects with draft/IPO (as applicable). The applying candidate should also attach attested copies of supporting documents (list is given in detailed advertisement), 3 passport size attested photographs(one to be pasted on application form, one on admit card and the last one to be attached with application form) and two self addressed envelope of 4”X9” size with Rs 6/- stamp on each with the application form . All this should be enclosed in an envelope and addressed to:
